Real Madrid to extend Karim Benzema’s contract

Real Madrid are set to extend Karim Benzema’s contract with the club, reports Fabrizio Romano.

In late September a list of Real Madrid players was compiled whose deals with the club will come to an end next summer. Benzema is one of these players and as things stand he would leave Los Blancos in June 2023 as a free agent.

However, it is believed that the European Champions and the 34-year-old have negotiated a new agreement that will see him extend his contract by one more season until June 2024.

It appears as though Benzema is going nowhere next summer and Real Madrid have good reason to extend the Frenchman’s contract. He has scored five goals in 10 games so far this season in all competitions, including in El Clásico against Barcelona over the weekend.

It is thought that both the club and the Frenchman would be keen to announce the contract renewal before the start of the World Cup later this year.
