Zinedine Zidane awaits Didier Deschamps’ decision

Zinedine Zidane is keen to manage the France national team, but he has to wait for Didier Deschamps to decide whether he would like to continue in his role or not, report AS.

The former Real Madrid player and coach turned down the chance to manage PSG with the hope that he would take over from Deschamps after the 2022 World Cup.

Even though his contract has expired, Deschamps can extend his deal automatically until Euro 2024 if he wants to continue at the helm of the national team as he completed the objective of reaching at least the semi-finals of the World Cup. It is believed that the 54-year-old wants his contract extended until the 2026.

He is set to meet Noël Le Graet, President of the French Football Federation, regarding his future in January.

Zidane is tipped by many to take over from Deschamps, but it appears as though he would have to wait until the new year to see whether the France head coach role opens up.
