Karim Benzema would consider France return if Zinedine Zidane is appointed as head coach

Karim Benzema would only consider coming out of international retirement if Zinedine Zidane is appointed as France’s new head coach, report Mundo Deportivo.

The 35-year-old announced yesterday his decision to retire from the France national team on social media.

This morning it was communicated that Zidane is waiting to see if the French Football Federation and Deschamps will arrive at an agreement in January over whether the current head coach will remain at the helm of Les Bleus.

Even though Deschamps’ contract has expired following the end of the World Cup, he can extend it unilaterally until Euro 2024 as France reached the objective of reaching the semi-finals of the competition.

Unlike with Deschamps, Benzema has a good relationship with Zidane and sees him as a legend of French football. It is believed that the Real Madrid captain would return to the national team if Zidane wishes to call him up.
