Xavi still debating over one Barcelona selection choice for PSG first leg

Barcelona head coach Xavi is yet to come to a definitive decision on one key aspect of his starting XI for the club’s upcoming meeting with Paris Saint-Germain.

That’s according to Toni Juanmartí of Diario Sport, who has on Tuesday provided an insight into the latest ongoings behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

Barcelona, of course, will mark their return to action on Wednesday night.

Turning attentions back towards matters on the continent, the Blaugrana will make the trip to the Parc des Princes, for the first leg of the club’s Champions League quarter-final tie with the aforementioned PSG.

In the buildup to the clash, much of the media chatter has centered on the plans of Barca boss Xavi when it comes to his midfield setup.

With all of Pedri, Frenkie de Jong and Andreas Christensen fresh off spells on the sidelines through injury, the Spaniard will have some major decisions to make in Paris.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference earlier today, the Spaniard confirmed that both De Jong and Pedri are ready to feature.

Little insight was forthcoming when it comes to the wellbeing of Danish international Christensen, though.

Christensen, for his part, has been converted into a new-look pivot at the base of Barcelona’s midfield over the course of the last couple of months.

If fully fit, the expectation has long been that the former Chelsea man will be in from the off against PSG.

Herein lies the problem, however.

As per the aforementioned Toni Juanmartí, doubts remain when it comes to Christensen’s readiness to contribute from the off on Wednesday.

As a result, Xavi has been left with a major call – Christensen, or club captain Sergi Roberto.
