Xavi ‘closely following’ another Barcelona youngster after senior training call-up

The development of another up-and-coming member of the youth setup at La Liga giants Barcelona is being closely watched by first team boss Xavi.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

After watching on from the stands as his Barcelona side put Las Palmas to the sword on Saturday night, Xavi was back in charge on Sunday, as the Blaugrana’s stars were put through their paces at the club’s training ground.

Alongside the first-team players, a number of youngsters were afforded the chance to impress, too, including Barca Atlètic regulars Diego Kochen, Mamadou Mbacke, and Diego Percan.

Most notable of all, though, was the presence of Nil Calderó.

Calderó, for his part, is an 18-year-old attacker, who acts as captain for Barcelona’s Juvenil A outfit (U19s).

The youngster is held in high regard by the coaching staff in Catalunya, with his goalscoring exploits from his berth on the right wing having long caught the eye of Xavi and his team.

In turn, on Sunday, Calderó was thrown in at the deep end, alongside Barca’s most high-profile stars.

As per the aforementioned Sport, as much comes with Xavi ‘closely following’ the Spaniard’s progression, with a view to a potential first-team berth.
