‘Why not?’ – PSG boss Enrique confirms hope of Real Madrid target Mbappé staying put

The latest comments on the part of Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique have piqued attentions across Europe on Saturday.

As much comes after the Spaniard confirmed that he is continuing to hold out hope that star attacker Kylian Mbappé will ultimately come to the decision to extend his contract with the club.

Mbappé, for his part, is of course widely expected to bring his stint in Paris to a close this coming summer.

Ahead of the imminent expiration of his contract, the 25-year-old has informed the powers that be at the Parc des Princes of his intention to move on, after seven years with the club.

The last couple of months, in turn, have seen Mbappé and his entourage locked in negotiations with La Liga leaders Real Madrid, over the terms of a deal beginning in July.

An accord between the parties has been labelled as all but imminent by a whole host of sources across the media, with it viewed as just a matter of time before another of world football’s standout performers takes to the pitch in the famed colours of Los Blancos.

And yet, all of this taken into consideration, one man who maintains hope that, in the end, Mbappé could surprise the masses by staying put in his home country, comes in the form of his manager.

Speaking in an interview with Prime Video Sport France on Saturday, Luis Enrique was adamant that the option remains for his side’s talisman to ‘change his mind’:

“I continue to hope that Kylian changes his mind, he hasn’t done anything yet, he can change his mind.

“Imagine that we win all four titles this season and Kylian Mbappé decides at the last moment that his place is in Paris…Why not? We’ll see.”
