Osasuna manager Jagoba Arrasate talks Copa del Rey ahead of Athletic Club clash

Osasuna will face-off against Athletic Club in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals on Wednesday night, and manager Jagoba Arrasate is cautiously optimistic, report Marca.

Los Rojillos have been steadily building over the last few seasons, and are now just two steps away from a maiden Copa del Rey title.

Arrasate emphasized sticking to the principles that have worked in getting them this far.

“If we start to do things differently, we’ll end up making a mistake. We need the best version of Osasuna, and that can only be achieved if we continue doing the things we’ve already done.”

Arrasate is cautious about the risk-reward scenarios of a two-legged tie, and wants to keep a measured approach throughout the first tie.

“If we are winning, we cannot be conservative because you can always score another goal. Alternately, we cannot throw the kitchen sink if we’re losing, because we have a second leg.”

Having won the Segunda División in his first season in charge, Arrasate has a chance to stamp his Osasuna legacy during this Copa del Rey campaign. “Keep a cool head and a warm heart” will be his mantra on Wednesday night.
