Villarreal star undergoing medical ahead of Atlético Madrid move

28-year-old Alexander Sørloth is currently in the Spanish capital ahead of completing a move to Atlético Madrid which could be worth around €35 million.

This news comes just days after Los Colchoneros announced the signing of Real Sociedad and Spain defender Robin Le Normand.

The move will complete Diego Simeone’s search for a replacement following Álvaro Morata’s move to Italy earlier this summer, where he will play for AC Milan.

The news of an ongoing medical comes via Diario SPORT, who report that following a successful medical the club will be given the green light to announce the transfer.

There will be doubts surrounding whether Sørloth will have been Atléti’s number one choice, however, as their heavy pursuit of Artem Dovbyk was widely publicised this summer before the Ukrainian completed his move to AS Roma.

The Norwegian will be heading to Madrid off the back of his best season in Spain so far, which saw him score 26 goals and make six assists in 41 appearances for Villarreal.

Sørloth will be expected to link up well with Antoine Griezmann next season, as Atlético Madrid look to push once more for domestic and European success.
