‘Want to play for Flick’ – Barcelona star confirms plans to cut vacation short

A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this weekend reiterated his commitment to the cause in Catalunya’s capital.

The player in question? Fermín López.

Youngster Fermín has of course seen his name take its place front and centre in the headlines across Europe over the course of the last 24 hours.

This comes after the 21-year-old conjured up another match-winning performance on the international stage.

En route to Spain booking their place in the semi-finals of the Olympic Games at the expense of Japan, Fermín notched an absolutely wonderful brace, either side of the interval.

With Spain now just a solitary game away from the Olympic finale fixture, Fermín, in turn, could hardly be blamed if he was looking forward to some well-earned rest post-tournament.

The Barcelona academy product, after all, was also a part of La Roja’s all-conquering squad at Euro 2024.

Safe to say, however, that if Fermín’s latest comments are anything to go by, then an extended vacation does not appear to be at all on the agenda.

Speaking on the back of his Man of the Match display against Japan, the midfielder announced:

“I won’t rest much after the Olympic Games. I want to be with Hansi Flick [at Barcelona] as soon as possible.”
