Villarreal accept Salernitana’s offer to sign Boulaye Dia

As broken by Fabrizio Romano, Villarreal and Salernitana have come to an agreement that will see Boulaye Dia move to Serie A.

According to the deal, Dia will join the Italian outfit on loan for the 2022/23 season for a fee of €1 million. The agreement also includes a buy-out option worth €12 million if Salernitana wish to purchase the Senegalese international permanently.

It was communicated on Monday that Villarreal are keen to sign Umar Sadiq from newly promoted Almería. The offloading of Dia frees up the budget necessary to make a move for the Nigerian striker.

Earlier in the transfer window it was believed that Edinson Cavani would join Villarreal, but according to reports coming through yesterday, the Uruguayan wants to go to Valencia instead.

Arriving from Stade Reims in the summer of 2021, Boulaye Dia made 35 appearances for Villarreal last season in all competitions and scored seven goals.
