As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Villarreal are negotiating with Almería to sign Umar Sadiq.
The Yellow Submarine are currently discussing with Salernitana the sale of Boulaye Dia, who had a very underwhelming 2021/22 season with Villarreal. The club are hoping to complete the deal as soon as possible so that they can free up the budget to make a move for Sadiq.
It is believed that Almería have set a €30 million price tag for the Nigerian striker. Villarreal’s current offer is far below this figure. It is very unlikely that anyone will meet the Andalucían club’s demands, meaning both sides would have to compromise if the deal were to be pushed through this summer.
Sadiq played a key role in helping Almería get promoted to La Liga by scoring 18 goals in the second tier of Spanish football last season.
Villarreal also want to buy Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham, however, they need to lower their wage bill before they can sign new players.
