Edinson Cavani wants to join Valencia, as per a report by AS. The 35-year-old’s brother has been in talks with Valencia over the past two days. Valencia can complete a deal for Cavani once Maxi Gómez leaves Mestalla. Los Che have spent days trying to negotiate the sale of Maxi to Turkish giants Fenerbahçe.
In recent days Cavani has spoken with members of the Valencia squad to tell them of his desire to join. The former Manchester United player has also spoken to Valencia manager Gennaro Gattuso, approximately three weeks ago when the club made contact with him for the first time.
Villarreal are reportedly still in the running but Cavani prefers to get playing time. There would be no transfer fee, as the player is a free agent since the end of his contract with Manchester United on 30 June.
His main objective is to earn a place in the Uruguay squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The next two months are key to making the squad and that will be the main factor in his decision.
