Valencia & Girona locked in transfer talks

The respective boards at Valencia and Girona are locked in ongoing negotiations over a potential deal for defender Arnau Martínez.

That’s according to market insider Matteo Moretto, who has early this week provided an update on the status of discussions between the two clubs.

Versatile full-back Arnau is for his part widely expected to be on the move before the summer is out. One of the standout performers in what ultimately proved to be a nightmare season for Girona en route to relegation last time out, the 23-year-old has since been linked with a whole host of top-flight clubs.

One such suitor come in the form of the aforementioned Valencia, eager to secure reinforcements at the back before the fast-approaching transfer deadline.

Los Che have already put an agreement in place on the terms of a contract with Arnau and his entourage. As of yet, however, an accord has not been found with Girona.

And as alluded to above, on Monday, a fresh insight into the situation has been provided. As per journalist Matteo Moretto:

‘Today, Valencia will contact Girona again to negotiate and try to agree on the final price. Girona are demanding the amount of the release clause (€8m), or at least a figure very close to it.’
