Toni Kroos: “Playing with Casemiro and Modrić was pretty much close to perfection.”

Toni Kroos discussed playing in Real Madrid’s midfield last season and expressed his opposition to the Qatar World Cup, report Mundo Deportivo.

The 32-year-old, who won the World Cup with Germany in 2014, retired from international football following the Euros last summer and will not make the trip to the Middle East for the tournament.

In an interview with the German channel ZDF, he discussed his views regarding FIFA’s decision to hold the World Cup in Qatar:

“I am totally against the World Cup being played in Qatar. Designating that country was a mistake by the federations. But I would find it wrong to expect the players not to play.”

Kroos was also asked about playing together with Casemiro and Luka Modrić last season:

I think the triangle that we had at Madrid is what has come closest to what I would call a midfield made of perfect parts. Playing with Casemiro and Modrić was pretty much close to perfection.”
