Thomas Partey’s father, Jacob Partey has claimed that the Atlético Madrid midfielder has told him he’s held talks with Arsenal over a possible move, according to AS via Tru FM.
Partey has been heavily linked to the Gunners for several months, with head coach Mikel Arteta very keen on the 26-year-old, who has €50m release clause. The Ghanaian’s father confirmed that discussions are underway with the Spanish club about how his release clause will be paid.
“I called my son after hearing the rumours, and he told me the rumours are true. He told me they’re having talks between him and Arsenal. Everything depends on the offer Atlético are demanding. What they are discussing now is how Atlético will release him. If he goes to Arsenal, they have a lot of supporters in Ghana. I’ll be happy if he decides to move to Arsenal.”
Atlético offered the midfielder a new and improved deal this week.
