Atlético Madrid have offered midfielder Thomas Partey a new deal until 2025, according to Fabrizio Romano via The Guardian.

Arsenal have been one of a number of clubs linked with the 26-year-old, although they have yet to submit an official bid, they have made contact with Partey’s agent. The Ghanaian has a release clause of €50m and The Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta, is keen to add him to bolster his squad this summer.

Atlético’s new offer would double Partey’s current salary and increase the release clause to more than €100m. Atlético boss, Diego Simeone, is desperate to keep the talented midfielder, whose current deal runs out in 2023 and has reportedly urged the club to offer him a deal with Los Rojiblancos.

The box-to-box midfielder made his first-team debut for Atleti in November 2015.
