The one La Liga player in Mexico’s World Cup squad

Tata Martino announced the Mexico squad he will be taking to the Qatar World Cup.

The Argentine coach has decided to include only one player from La Liga in the Mexico team in the form of Real Betis’ Andrés Guardado.

This will be the veteran’s fifth appearance on the biggest stage of international football, having played in the World Cups held in Germany, South Africa, Brazil and Russia previously.

Defenders: Néstor Araújo (Club América), Jesús Gallardo (Monterrey), Gerardo Arteaga (Genk), Héctor Moreno (Monterrey), Jorge Sánchez (Ajax), Johan Vásquez (Cremonese), César Montes (Monterrey), Kevin Álvarez (Pachuca).
