Sevilla make move for Memphis Depay

Sevilla’s director of football Monchi met Mephis Depay’s representatives to discuss a possible transfer this January, report Estadio Deportivo.

The Dutch forward was on the bench for Barcelona’s last four matches in La Liga and he was not brought on for a single minute in either of those fixtures.

It appears as though Depay is not part of Xavi’s plans and the Blaugrana would be keen to offload the striker as soon as possible.

The 28-year-old’s current deal with the club is set to expire in June 2023. Barcelona tried offload the Netherlands international this past summer to Juventus, but his contractual demands were too high for the Italian outfit.

Barça will try to arrive at an agreement with Depay to terminate his contract in January so that he could become a free agent.

Sevilla would be interested in signing the Dutchman and they have already began discussion’s with the player’s representatives, but unless Depay lowers his desired salary, it is very unlikely that a deal will materialise.
