Santi Mina set to join Al Shabab from Celta Vigo

Santi Mina will join Saudi Arabian side Al Shabab on loan, according to Celta Vigo.

“RC Celta and Al Shabab closed an agreement today for the loan of striker Santi Mina to the Saudi Arabian team, who he will join immediately. The player will play until June 30 in the Saudi Arabian First Division,” Celta Vigo said in a statement.

Mina, recently sentenced to four years in prison for sexual abuse, can continue playing football in Saudi Arabia.

The Spanish forward was training with Celta but is not part of the club’s plans.

Mina, who is already in Saudi Arabia after several weeks of negotiations, will earn a higher salary with Al Shabab.

The Saudi outfit, coached by former Espanyol boss Vicente Moreno, will give him the chance to continue playing football while the judicial process continues. This summer he also had offers from Aris Thessaloniki and the United Arab Emirates.

With the loan move, Celta reduce their wage bill and can add a centre forward to their squad.
