As broken by Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are not ready to pay €30 million to secure the services of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
It was communicated yesterday that Chelsea have submitted an offer for the Gabonese striker worth €22 million plus €5 million in variables. However, it appears as though negotiations will have to continue as Barcelona have rejected the The Blues’ bid and are sticking firm to their €30 million asking price.
Chelsea have been in the market for a new striker following the departure of Timo Werner to RB Leipzig. Last weekend’s humiliating 3-0 defeat to Leeds United reaffirmed the fact that the club needs to bring in reinforcements upfront.
Barcelona have been looking to offload either Memphis Depay or Aubameyang this summer to reduce their wage bill. It is believed that discussions between Depay and Juventus have broken down over a possible contract and the Italians are considering alternative options.
If they want to part ways with one of their forwards, the Blaugrana may have to be more lenient with their demands.
