Rodrygo’s father aims dig at Lionel Messi: “The little saint”

The father of Brazil and Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has made use of the opportunity to take a less-than-subtle jab at Lionel Messi.

This comes owing to the iconic attacker’s behaviour during the World Cup qualifying showdown between Brazil and Argentina earlier this week.

The clash was of course marred by ugly scenes from the off, after crowd trouble saw Argentina’s travelling fans brutally beaten by the local Rio police force.

Messi and Argentina’s stars showcased their support for their fellow countrymen by walking off the field of play at the Maracanã Stadium.

Upon their return to the pitch, though, clashes broke out amongst players, too, with Rodrygo and Messi having been at the heart of the most noteworthy.

The former is accused of labelling Argentina’s squad ‘cowards’, to which Messi sniped back that ‘we’re the champions of the world’.

The exchange between the pair went viral, with the widespread consensus having been that Rodrygo, based on the evidence, was the instigator.

As alluded to above, though, one individual who appears to have an altogether different outlook on the situation comes in the form of the Real Madrid frontman’s father.

Taking to his official Instagram account in the aftermath of the clash, Eric Goes unveiled a post, featuring photos of his son’s argument with Messi.

It was the accompanying caption that turned heads, though, with Goes having targeted Messi in a sarcastic fashion, as follows:

“The little saint who never causes trouble with anyone… Is anyone surprised?”
