Revealed: The return which would see Xavi consider staying on as Barcelona manager

Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernández would give serious consideration to reversing his decision to depart the club in the summer, in the case of a former board member linking back up with the Blaugrana.

That’s according to El Chiringuito TV, who have on Tuesday provided an insight into ongoings behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

As much points towards ongoing unrest between Xavi, and Barcelona sporting director Deco.

This comes with the former, seemingly, of the opinion that his former teammate has been afforded too much responsibility by president Joan Laporta.

Deco, for his part, is currently overseeing a whole host of crucial operations at Barcelona, from transfer strategy to the club’s search for a new manager.

According to Josep Pedrerol, Xavi, who of course announced his intention to step down from his post in the summer last month, would actually consider staying put, in the case of Deco being joined in the decision-making process by a one-time member of the Blaugrana boardroom.

The individual in question? Jordi Cruyff.

Cruyff, son of Dutch icon and Barca legend Johan, filled the role of sporting advisor in Catalunya from 2021 through 2023.

And Xavi is understood to have maintained an excellent relationship with the ex-Barcelona midfield star, prior to his decision to step down last summer.

In fact, so integral did the Spanish tactician consider Cruyff, that his return to the club could prove enough to convince Xavi to reverse his decision to depart.

On the other hand, should Joan Laporta continue to entrust Deco with so much power and free will, Barca’s boss will without question move on.
