Revealed: Barcelona’s plan for the final days of the transfer window

An insight into the plans of the powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona for the final days of the January transfer window has been provided.

It is of course the subject of ongoings on the touchline which have dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last 48 hours.

This comes after Xavi Hernández announced his decision to step down upon the close of the campaign.

And yet, as the transfer deadline fast approaches, the powers that be in the Camp Nou boardroom have been left with little choice but to shift attentions back to the playing squad under the watch of their soon-to-be departed tactician.

Barcelona were hit with a fresh injury blow last week, upon word coming to the fore that Alejandro Balde will miss the remainder of the term with a hamstring injury.

This has opened the door for an emergency signing to be brought in, as per Spanish football’s rules regarding long-term absences.

So, could Joan Laporta and co. move for a replacement for Balde?

As much, as things stand, looks unlikely.

Instead, as per a report from transfer insider Matteo Moretto, whilst on Fabrizio Romano’s ‘The Daily Briefing‘, the Blaugrana are eyeing reinforcements in the middle of the park.

It is of course common knowledge that the base of the club’s midfield has long been identified as an area in need of strengthening by all involved with Barca.

In turn, the Catalan powerhouse have begun scouring the market once more, for any potential last-minute opportunities.
