Referee Committee cancel meeting with Barcelona due to leaked info

The planned meeting between the CTA (Spanish Technical Committee of Referees) and representatives from La Liga giants Barcelona this week has been cancelled.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Tuesday provided an insight into the situation.

Earlier today, word was forthcoming that the long-touted sit-down between Barca and the CTA had been pencilled in for this coming Thursday.

The get-together was put in place to talk over some of the high-profile officiating decisions to have gone against Xavi’s Blaugrana of late.

Expected to feature prominently were ongoings in the latest edition of El Clásico, including, most prominently, Lamine Yamal’s ‘ghost goal’.

In turn, it will no doubt come as a blow to the Barcelona brass to hear of the CTA, at the last minute, backing out of the planned meeting.

As per the aforementioned MD:

‘The refereeing team has decided to cancel the meeting after the leaks (details of the date and time) that occurred this morning.’

The CTA are steadfast in their stance that such discussions should be kept as private as possible, of the opinion that the upcoming round of La Liga fixtures could have descended into a ‘circus’ owing to the close proximity of their sit-down with Barca being made public knowledge.
