Real Sociedad hope to secure the signing of Celta Vigo player Brais Méndez this week, as per Marca.
The Basque side are set to pay €14 million plus add-ons for the 25-year old Spaniard. The only missing piece in the deal is an agreement between La Real and Celta for the transfer of fringe youth player Julen Lobete as an exchange. According to Marca, La Real manager Imanol Alguacil wishes to have Brais join the squad for the start of pre-season in the next couple of the days at the latest.
The La Liga side now awaits Lobete’s decision on whether to renew at the club or enter the Brais Méndez operation. In either case, however, a further likely scenario is that the young attacker would be sent out on loan to a team in the Segunda División.
La Real are hoping to finalize Méndez’s arrival by Wednesday. Alguacil aims to have not only Mohammed-Ali Cho, but also Brais at his disposal at the start of pre-season on Thursday.
Brais scored four times and assisted five more for Celta in La Liga last season.
