An insight into the stance of the powers that be at La Liga giants Real Madrid regarding a potential reunion with Achraf Hakimi has been provided this afternoon.
And the news will no doubt be met with widespread excitement on the part of the Blancos faithful.
The name of full-back Hakimi has of course found itself back front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital over the course of the last week.
This comes after word was forthcoming in the media that the Moroccan has set his sights firmly on a move back to the Santiago Bernabéu.
After spending the early years of his career developing on the books of Real, Hakimi, according to Mundo Deportivo, is now ‘crazy’ to link back up with his former employers.
The explosive defender will see close friend and Paris Saint-Germain teammate Kylian Mbappé take his talents to Madrid this summer, and hopes to follow suit in the not-so-distant future.
Where do the brass at the Bernabéu stand on as much, though?
Real are expected to kick into gear a search for a new right-back as soon as the summer of 2025, amid efforts to source a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.
And, as confirmed by the reliable Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, at this point, the capital heavyweights will indeed ‘study’ Hakimi’s potential return.
The name of the 25-year-old is a ‘prominent’ one at Valdebebas, with Florentino Pérez and co. ready to take advantage of the situation, in the case of Hakimi refusing to put pen to paper on a new contract.
His current terms are due to expire in the summer of 2026, meaning both a cut-price deal next year, or even potentially a free agent one the following summer, will be ‘studied’.
