Real Madrid’s defensive pairing to face Girona confirmed

An insight into the defensive pairing set to be called upon by Carlo Ancelotti for Real Madrid’s upcoming showdown with Girona has been provided this afternoon.

The subject of defensive personnel has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital across the week to date.

This comes after Los Blancos’ woes continued to mount, upon word surfacing that Nacho was the latest member of Ancelotti’s ranks to have picked up an injury.

With Antonio Rüdiger having joined long-term absentees David Alaba and Éder Militão on the sidelines last week, this left Real without a single fit senior central defender, ahead of a top of the table weekend clash with Girona.

In turn, it no doubt came as a source of relief for all associated with the capital giants to hear of Rüdiger returning to training on Thursday.

Speaking to the media this afternoon, Carlo Ancelotti, in turn, hinted that the German will likely be fit to take to the pitch tomorrow evening.

And, as per Diario AS, amongst other sources, as much will give rise to a central defensive pairing of Rüdiger and Aurélien Tchouaméni to face Girona.
