Real Madrid ‘turn into Arsenal’ to complete historic Remontada at Roma

La Liga giants Real Madrid relied on some late set-piece brilliance to turn things around in a remarkable victory on the continent on Wednesday.

José Mourinho’s troops marked their return to action a short time ago, making the trip to Italy’s capital for a Champions League showdown with AS Roma.

With 10 minutes remaining, the visitors appeared dead and buried, trailing by three goals to one and looking completely bereft of ideas and confidence alike.

A string of substitutions, however, soon saw the balance of the clash tipped firmly in favour of Los Blancos…

After all of Endrick, Arda Güler, Carlos Espí and Bernardo Silva were introduced to proceedings, Real made use of some uncharacteristic tactics to, incredibly, turn the scoreline on its head.

A trio of late corner kicks, all delivered by Arda, culminated in three goals, guiding the Spanish heavyweights to the right side of a 4-3 result.

Viewers of the clash have in turn gone as far as to liken Mourinho’s Real to Premier League champions Arsenal, owing to the Gunners’ success from set-pieces over recent seasons.
