Real Madrid to be without yet another defender for Rayo Vallecano clash

Real Madrid star Ferland Mendy is set to sit out the club’s upcoming meeting with Rayo Vallecano.

This comes owing to a suspension picked up by the Frenchman during his side’s latest outing on Saturday evening.

Los Blancos were of course back in action a short time ago, welcoming Girona to the Santiago Bernabéu for a top of the table La Liga showdown.

And, over the course of the 90 minutes, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops sent something of a message to not only their opponents, but all of Spanish football, regarding their dominance.

Owing to goals on the part of all of Vinícius Jr, Jude Bellingham (2) and Rodrygo, the capital giants ultimately emerged on the right side of a 4-0 result.

And yet, amid a stellar evening’s work all-round, Real Madrid nevertheless saw their defensive personnel crisis added to once more.

Los Merengues were forced to navigate Saturday’s action without the services of any of the sidelined David Alaba, Éder Militão, Nacho, or Antonio Rüdiger.

And, next time out, Carlo Ancelotti will be unable to call upon yet another member of his backline.

This comes after Ferland Mendy picked up his 5th yellow card of the season against Girona, giving rise to a one-game suspension.

The left-back will in turn be unavailable for next weekend’s La Liga meeting with Rayo Vallecano.
