A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has made his way onto the transfer radar of those in a position of power at Premier League outfit Chelsea.
This comes amid the understanding that the Blues are eyeing up a potential reunion with Antonio Rüdiger.
Stopper Rüdiger is for his part widely expected to bring a close to his time on the books of Real Madrid in the summer of 2027. As things stand, Florentino Pérez and co. do not intend to offer the German an extension to his expiring contract terms.
Set to turn 34 next March, Rüdiger is not considered as being part of the long-term plans of José Mourinho and co.
As alluded to above, though, the experienced defender could nevertheless be afforded a fresh chance at another of European football’s most high-profile clubs next season.
As per a report from Fichajes, citing English outlet Football Insider, with the full backing of Xabi Alonso:
‘Chelsea could make a move for his return. Rüdiger is seen as a Thiago Silva 2.0, a centre-back who will bring leadership and contribute from the first minute.’
