Real Madrid star to sign new contract, but could later seek out transfer

A fresh insight into the future of Real Madrid star Andriy Lunin has on Friday come to the fore online.

The info comes courtesy of ESPN, as cited by Defensa Central, and adds to previous claims that the widespread expectation is that shot-stopper Lunin will imminently put pen to paper on fresh terms in Spain’s capital.

The contract in question would tie the Ukrainian down all the way through the summer of 2029.

And yet, a new deal would not mean that Lunin’s future, all of a sudden, becomes secure.

ESPN add that though the 25-year-old remains happy at the Santiago Bernabéu, developments over the coming months and beyond will likely play an important role in his long-term plans.

Lunin has of course spent the majority of the season to date as first-choice in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

The return of long-term injury absentee Thibaut Courtois, however, has seen the Ukrainian international swiftly knocked back down the pecking order.

He is expected to be overlooked for the upcoming Champions League final, despite having played an absolutely pivotal role in Los Blancos’ run to the Wembley showpiece.

And if Lunin is not made to feel important moving into next season, it is not at all out of the question that he could move on, in the case of an offer arriving on the part of another of the continent’s leading clubs.
