Real Madrid star to return to starting XI for La Liga opener

A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is expected to be afforded a starting berth in the club’s season opener next weekend.

The Blancos star in question? Aurélien Tchouaméni.

Midfielder Tchouaméni is for his part fresh off a return to base in Spain’s capital this week. After being afforded an extended break following his exploits with France at the World Cup, the former Monaco man is now at the direct disposal of new boss José Mourinho.

Tchouaméni, nevertheless, has to date been considered something of a doubt to play his part in Real Madrid’s first fixture of the new campaign, against Espanyol on August 22nd.

The 26-year-old picked up a fitness problem during the World Cup, which, added to his late return to Valdebebas, led to suggestions that the likes of Eduardo Camavinga or Arda Güler could start in his place at the RCDE stadium.

But as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from Spain on Friday is anything to go by, this will not be the case. As per a report from Blancos insider Arancha Rodríguez:

‘Tchouameni has moved past his troubles. It is understood that he will be in the starting lineup for the League (opener).’
