Those in a position of power at La Liga champions Barcelona will on Friday evening have had their attentions firmly piqued by the latest word stemming from the Argentine media.
This comes amid a firm denial regarding the alleged apology sent the way of Atlético Madrid’s players and staff alike by Blaugrana transfer target Julián Alvarez.
Frontman Alvarez has seen his name continue to dominate the headlines in Spain across the day to date. As per a report from Goal, citing Cadena SER, the 26-year-old ‘has now fully owned up to his missteps, acknowledging that his public transfer request during the World Cup was poorly executed’.
Word of as much sent shockwaves across Barcelona, amid the ongoing efforts of the Camp Nou brass to add Alvarez to Hansi Flick’s squad before the summer is out.
But as alluded to above, almost as quickly as the reports of his apology surfaced, these claims have since been denied… According to ESPN in Alvarez’s home country of Argentina:
“Julián Álvarez has not apologised to anyone at Atléti and continues to want an exit from Atlético Madrid, considering his time at the club to be over. He also did not tell his teammates that he regretted his statements.”
