Real Madrid star admits ‘we didn’t even deserve a draw’ vs Dortmund

A star performer en route to Real Madrid’s downing of Borussia Dortmund has revealed his opinion that, based on the balance of play, his side were lucky to come away triumphant.

Real Madrid, of course, are fresh off sealing glory on the continent once more last night.

After making the trip to Wembley for a showdown with the aforementioned Dortmund in the finale of the Champions League, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops emerged on the right side of a 2-0 scoreline.

Whilst as much may give the impression of a comfortable victory, however, this was in fact far from the case.

It was underdogs Dortmund who dominated much of the 90 minutes in London, with wasteful finishing having cost the German giants dear time and time again on the night.

And Real took advantage in characteristically ruthless fashion, notching both of their goals inside the closing 20 minutes of a largely lacklustre display.

Speaking to the media on the back of the action coming to a close, precisely as much, in turn, was put to Los Merengues’ opening scorer on Saturday, in Dani Carvajal.

And the Spanish international was as honest as ever in his response, admitting that:

“We didn’t even deserve a draw, but this is football.”
