Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti readying midfield change for Barcelona showdown

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is readying a major change to his midfield setup, for the club’s upcoming showdown with arch rivals Barcelona.

The latest chapter of the Clásico story, of course, was pencilled in late last night.

This came upon Barcelona putting Osasuna to the sword by two goals to nil in the 2nd semi-final of the Supercopa de España.

After Real Madrid battled their way past Diego Simeone’s Atlético 24 hours prior, the latest meeting between Spanish football’s two biggest clubs was in turn confirmed.

The matchup is set to unfold this coming Sunday, in the Saudi capital of Riyadh.

And, as alluded to above, in anticipation of the Super Cup showpiece, some early team news has begun to surface in the media.

One such tidbit comes by way of Miguel Ángel Díaz of Cope, who has confirmed that Carlo Ancelotti intends to reintroduce a key member of his engine room ranks from the off against Barcelona.

The player in question? Toni Kroos.

German international Kroos was forced to make do with a spot on the bench against Atlético, before being thrown into the action amid Los Blancos’ efforts to take control of the midfield battle.

And his endeavours, evidently, proved enough to convince Ancelotti of the merits of utilising Kroos from the off on Sunday, with Luka Modrić in line to drop to the bench.
