Real Madrid boss Ancelotti provides Fede Valverde injury update

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has provided an update on the wellbeing of midfield star Federico Valverde.

As much comes after the Uruguayan international set alarm bells ringing across Real’s fanbase a short time ago.

Los Blancos, of course, are fresh off a winning return to action on the back of the international break.

After welcoming Athletic Club to the Spanish capital for a La Liga clash, a brace on the part of Rodrygo proved enough to restore Real’s eight-point advantage atop the table.

On an otherwise positive night’s work, however, Real were also forced to sweat, amid a major concern on the personnel front.

Late in proceedings at the Santiago Bernabéu, the aforementioned Fede Valverde went to ground, in evident discomfort.

After being seen to by the Real Madrid medical team, it was quickly made clear that the Uruguayan’s work for the night was done, hauled off to be replaced by Lucas Vázquez.

Just over a week out from the first leg of the club’s Champions League quarter-final tie with Manchester City, the subject of Valverde’s wellbeing, in turn, was put to boss Carlo Ancelotti.

And, in his response, the Italian went on to quell any and all fears, in assuring that his midfield standout picked up little more than ‘a knock’:

“Fede Valverde? Just a knock. Now we have 2 days of rest and we will recover every player.”
