‘A happy problem’ – Rodrygo speaks out on Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé move

Real Madrid star Rodrygo has tonight provided his take on the club’s ongoing pursuit of Kylian Mbappé.

Frontman Rodrygo, for his part, is of course fresh off a match-winning display.

Afforded a starting berth in Real’s post-international break return to action against Athletic Club, the Brazilian international notched both goals, en route to an eventual 2-0 result.

Speaking to the media post-match, though, it was the name of a player who could well act as direct competition for Rodrygo in Spain’s capital next season which was put to the 23-year-old.

The player in question? Kylian Mbappé.

Paris Saint-Germain talisman Mbappé is of course all set to take his talents to the Santiago Bernabéu this summer, upon the conclusion of his contract terms in France.

And Rodrygo, for his part, appears resigned to as much, albeit whilst adamant that the latest attacking reinforcements in Madrid will pose a problem for boss Carlo Ancelotti, rather than he himself:

“Mbappé to Real? I think it’s close as it’s what journalists say, I trust you guys! But I don’t know what’s going on. If Mbappé comes, I will be benched? It will be an happy problem for the manager. I’m only focused on Real Madrid.”
