Real Betis Injury Update: Nabil Fekir returns to training with protective mask

As reported by Relevo, Nabil Fekir has returned to training with a view to making his comeback on Sunday against Villarreal. After being sidelined at the Metropolitano, due to the fracture of the bones in his nose, the Frenchman wants to be available for Real Betis and does not want to miss another game.

Although the doctors put the brakes on his desire to be available for the game against Atlético, the playmaker has now started training with the team. Ideally, the medical staff want the 30-year-old to spend a week training on his own to avoid knocks to the damaged area, however Fekir has insisted he is reintroduced into full team training as of today.

To avoid any potential setbacks, the France international will wear a protective mask, which he will continue to train with over the next few days. The idea is to test the player during the week before making a decision as to how he will perform against Villarreal, with or without face protection.

Fekir has made 14 appearances in all competitions this season, but he has only played 753 minutes of competitive football during this period. The player’s recent injury issues caused manager Manuel Pellegrini to be very careful with his return to the pitch, although Isco’s injury has made Fakir’s return even more urgent.
