Atlético Madrid duo Stefan Savić and Saúl in contention to start against Cádiz

According to Marca, Atlético Madrid duo Stefan Savić and Saúl are set to return to the team for their La Liga encounter with Cádiz on Saturday.

Atlético continue to prepare for this weekend’s visit to Cadiz, which will be followed by next week’s crucial match against Inter Milan in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League tie. In order to progress to the quarter-finals they will need to produce a comeback against the Italians.

With both games in the back of his mind, Diego Simeone has many selection dilemmas to take into consideration, as the red and white team can’t afford to neglect their fight for the places that give access to Champions League football next season. This Wednesday, the Argentine head-coach introduced duo Savić and Saú back into the team, with the pair set to replace Gabriel Paulista and Pablo Barrios in the starting lineup.

The Montenegrin is set to be deployed in the right centre-back position, while Axel Wiesel move to the centre of the defence. While, the player from Elche would occupy the position on the inside left, replacing Barrios who will be sidelined with illness.

Although Antoine Griezmann is almost certain to feature against Inter, his involvement in Cádiz looks more than doubtful. The Frenchman is yet to participate in group training and is therefore a doubt alongside Thomas Lemar and José María Giménez.

César Azpilicueta is making good progress in his recovery and is now focusing on being fit for the Champions League clash next week.
