Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois made use of the opportunity to reiterate his total commitment to the white half of the Madrid divide on Sunday evening.
This came after the Belgian played his part in a derby day defeat for Los Blancos.
José Mourinho’s troops made the trip to the Metropolitano a short time ago, for the season’s first edition of the Madrid Derby. The visitors headed into proceedings aware that a defeat would mark a heavy early blow for their title chances in La Liga.
When all was said and done in a fiery affair, though, Real could not avoid precisely that.
Owing to goals on the part of Alejandro Grimaldo and Jonathan David, it was hosts Atlético who emerged on the right side of a 2-1 result.
As alluded to above, though, post-match, this did not stop one member of the visiting contingent from sending a firm message to the home crowd at the Metropolitano.
Considered something of a hate figure amongst those of an Atlético persuasion owing to his Rojiblancos past, Thibaut Courtois faced the home support on Sunday, before defiantly kissing the Real Madrid badge:
