Barcelona agree 3rd contract renewal in space of 24 hours

The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have on Sunday continued to tie the club’s first-team stars down for the long term. This comes courtesy of yet another contract extension.

The subject of renewals has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the weekend to date. This comes after word was forthcoming that the Blaugrana have agreed to fresh terms with both midfielder Marc Bernal, and star frontman Raphinha.

And as alluded to above, on Sunday, the efforts of Deco and his team of directors have borne fruit once more.

As per a report from journalist Fabrizio Romano:

‘Xavi Espart has agreed to sign new contract at Barcelona until June 2030. Deal done with his agents and official statement to follow. Higher salary and longer deal.’

Young defender Espart is of course fresh off a stellar individual opening to the new campaign. Shifted into a new role at left-back, the 19-year-old has responded with a string of superb performances, culminating in a goal and two assists in La Liga.
