The Estrella Damm Trophy for the Joan Gamper MVP went to Robert Lewandowski, but it could also have gone to Pedri, who scored a brace and provided an assist for the Polish striker in Barcelona’s 6-0 win over Pumas on Sunday.
“It was important for us to win in front of our fans and we did it by playing a good game,” Pedri said in quotes reported by Mundo Deportivo.
“The coach [Xavi] asks us all to get forward and score goals and I hope it stays that way. We’ve had a good pre-season and we wanted to start scoring early.
His connection with Robert Lewandowski is already producing, with four goals and assists in the first 18 minutes against the Mexican outfit.
“It’s a joy to play with Lewandowski, I really enjoy seeing how he shoots and how he links up. The president and everyone has done a great job and we are working hard to make it a great year for everyone.”
