Osasuna boss Arrasate casts fresh doubt over future

Osasuna head coach Jagoba Arrasate has provided a fresh insight into his future with the club.

Unfortunately for those of an Osasuna persuasion desperate to see their side’s beloved tactician stay put, though, he has once again failed to confirm his commitment to the Rojillos beyond the summer.

Arrasate’s terms on the bench at El Sadar are of course set to come to a close upon the season’s end.

The powers that be at Osasuna, as a result, have long been pushing the Spaniard to put pen to paper on an extension.

Arrasate, for his part, has held the reins at El Sadar for the last six seasons, making him one of the longest-serving managers in the club’s storied history.

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of his side’s hard-fought La Liga downing of Alavés on Monday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his future, once more, was put to the 45-year-old.

Arrasate, though, remained elusive on the topic, in confirming that he is yet to come to a definitive decision on his plans for next season.

“It is true that the club has told me that they want me to continue,” he began, as cited by Mundo Deportivo. “Now I am entering into a process of reflection , on my part. After six years, when you have to face a renewal, first you have to reflect and then put on the table those things that you see are important to be able to continue.

“It is normal to reflect. I have to be very convinced to continue here. Let’s see what happens. We will sit down and talk a little about everything, about “Where the club is going and what I see. From there I will make a decision but naturally.”
