Oriol Romeu closer to Barcelona move

The summer transfer window is in full swing, with moves happening across Europe and in Spain.

La Liga clubs are looking for cheaper deals to strengthen their squads this summer, including current champions Barcelona, who have already signed Ilkay Gündogan, Iñigo Martínez and Vitor Roque.

A few days ago Barcelona set their sights on defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu (31) and, as Relevo reports, he is now closer to signing for the Catalan club.

The Girona player’s clause is between €3m and €5m, but Barça are working on an agreement with Girona to avoid paying that amount. He is the favourite to come in as the midfield pivot to replace Sergio Busquets.

The Blaugrana began their pre-season training today (Monday), and will soon head to the United States for their summer tour.
