Two leading members of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Monday evening been made aware of their respective finishes in the voting for the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
The Blancos pair in question? Marc Cucurella, and Vinícius Jr.
In the case of the former, defender Cucurella, after playing a starring role for Spain en route to World Cup glory over the summer, has received sufficient votes for a respectable 18th-placed finish.
As much was confirmed across the Ballon d’Or’s official social media platforms a short time ago:
Teammate Vinícius Jr, meanwhile, after continuing to produce solid numbers across what proved to be a disappointing campaign all told for Real Madrid in 2025/26, has finished a solitary place clear of Cucurella.
The Brazilian, just years on from being considered amongst the very frontrunners to take home the ‘Golden Ball’, has this time round been forced to make do with a spot in 17th:
Conor Laird – GSFN
