Nicolas Jackson to Chelsea deal faces a potential problem

Nicolas Jackson to Chelsea has been a transfer that has looked close to happening over the last week or so. But the deal may yet face a potential hiccup. Chelsea are happy to pay the €35m release clause that Villarreal set, but Relevo have reported that the Spanish club have set further conditions.

Villarreal are demanding that Chelsea pay the release clause in one lump sum. Chelsea were negotiating to pay the fee in installments, and this sudden change from the Yellow Submarine may not go down well in London.

Jackson has made it clear to Villarreal that he wants to leave the club. He has gone as far as to purposefully limit his minutes for Senegal on International duty, so as not to pick up an injury ahead of the proposed move.

Villarreal say that if Chelsea want to pay in installments, they will maintain future rights over the player. The exact future power that they want remains to be seen, but it is unlikely that Todd Boehly and Co. will be happy with those terms.
