Neymar’s father to pay former Barcelona teammate Dani Alves’ €1m bail

The father of former Barcelona star Neymar is set to fork over the required €1 million sum, for Dani Alves to be released from prison on bail.

That’s according to La Vanguardia, who have today provided an insight into the situation.

Alves, of course, was found guilty of sexual assault late last month.

The Brazilian had been in custody since January of 2023, in relation to an incident in the bathroom of a nightclub in Barcelona the prior December.

His prison sentence was set at four and a half years.

Earlier today, though, it was announced that The 21st Section of the Barcelona Court of Justice had accepted the request of Alves’ defense to release him on provisional bail.

As much comes whilst the former defender’s appeals are judged.

The bond for his release was set at €1 million, a sum which is set to be paid by a close friend, and fellow countryman.

As per the aforementioned La Vanguardia, amid Alves’ ongoing financial troubles, Neymar’s father will hand over the sum required for his exit from prison.

This comes after the pair also helped to finance a €150,000 payment to the case’s victim, in return for a reduced sentence.

As part of the bail agreement, Alves will be instructed to hand over both his Spanish and Brazilian passports, banned from leaving Spain, maintain at least a 1km distance from the victim, and appear in court on a weekly basis.
