Martin Braithwaite set to join Espanyol

Martin Braithwaite is set to join La Liga outfit Espanyol. The Denmark international will move to the Catalan club on a three-year deal, according to Fabrizio Romano, after he had his Barcelona contract terminated on Thursday.

“FC Barcelona and Martin Braithwaite have reached an agreement to terminate the contact binding the player to the club until the end of the 2023/24 season.

“FC Barcelona publicly expresses its gratitude to Braithwaite for his commitment and dedication and wishes him the best of fortune and every success in the future,” Barcelona said in a statement.

Braithwaite joined the Blaugrana from Madrid-based side Leganés in the 2020 winter transfer window. In two and a half seasons at Camp Nou, he featured a total of 59 times but fell out of favour under new boss Xavi Hernández.

The Danish forward has completed his paperwork and the official announcement will be made by Espanyol in the coming hours.
