Marco Asensio on joining Barcelona: “I, right now, I can’t give you an answer.”

Marco Asensio gave an interview to Marca TV, where he talked about his relationship with Carlo Ancelotti and his future at Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old discussed that the Italian coach played a key role in encouraging him to stay at Los Blancos:

“Ancelotti’s confidence was key. I’m still confident that I can help Real Madrid and I want to continue winning titles with the club. There were options, but at no time did I really think about leaving. His confidence was key. In the end, last season was very good too, it went very well for me in terms of goals, interventions in the game, and above all, in terms of the titles we won as a team.”

Asensio also revealed that he is not sure whether he would sign a contract renewal with Real Madrid if it were tabled:

“We’ll see what happens. You never know, in the world of football, things can change very quickly. I can’t tell you anything else because I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

He was also asked about whether he would join Barcelona if they were to make an offer:

Honestly, I don’t know if Barça want me. Like Barça, there have been many other clubs. I have not thought about it, nor have I evaluated it. I, right now, I can’t give you an answer, I don’t know.”
