Álvaro Morata: “I think I have something left to do and win with Atléti.”

Álvaro Morata sat down with radio network Cadena SER to discuss Atlético Madrid’s performance this season and his relationship with Diego Simeone.

In the interview, which appeared on AS, Morata said that he believes that Los Colchoneros can turn around their poor start to the season:

“We had a complicated start to the season because of the calendar and there were games which we could have won or drawn. But we have a great group with very committed people. There are things that we cannot control, but we go out to every game with the motivation to win them. The season is long.”

He revealed that he has a great relationship with Diego Simeone:

“I have never said it directly but I never have had any problems with him. Obviously he is my boss and it is a relationship of respect. l told him in a message when I left: “Coach, I want you to know that my admiration and respect for you is incredible and I have been fortunate to experience what it is to train with you and I hope to see you in the future”. With few people in football have I had a bad relationship.”

The 29-year-old believes he has unfinished business at Atlético Madrid:

“I think I have something left to do and win with Atléti. It was what I wanted when I was with Koke, when I was 12, 13 years old.”

Morata was also asked about whether he would be open to finishing his professional career at his current club:

“The truth is, yes.”
